Baby Jogger City Select Lux: Are the Extras Worth the Extra Money?

We know all about having your heart set on the perfect piece that's going to be functional, stylish, and comfortable, and these two strollers are going to make your heart so happy, mama! But what will you be getting with the Lux that you aren't with the Select, and is it enough to make you spring for the extra $100 on the price tag? Here's a couple differences between the two strollers that might make you choose one over the other:

Fabric

The City Select is going to be your classic silky nylon, and comes in a bunch of great, bright colors, so you'll definitely be able to find something to fit your style! The Lux has an upgraded fabric that's going to be softer and more comfortable for your little, but comes in fewer colors.

Wheels

If you're planning on using your Baby Jogger for all different types of terrain (gravel, grass, pavement, dirt...) you may prefer the wheels on the City Select, because the foam-filled, bulkier back wheels will give you better suspension when you're on the move. If you're looking for a sleeker, thinner style you'll prefer the all-rubber wheels on the Lux-- perfect for you city mamas!

Handlebar

Probably the most noticeable difference at first glance is that the City Select has a round handlebar with the handbrake, whereas the Select Lux has a squared-off shape, the handbrake, and an addition of a decelerator for any downhill walking to help you with a slower, smoother ride.

Fold

Both strollers have a similar fold, but the Lux can fold WITH the seats attached, whereas you have to take the Select's second seat off to fold it. Because of this, the Lux has a compact, smaller fold. It also features an automatic lock, compared to the City Select's manual lock. Storage

The City Select and the City Select Lux have generous storage baskets in the back, and the City Select has a zipper feature to allow you to fit bigger items in there more easily. The Lux got rid of the zipper on the bottom storage, but added a zipper pouch on the back of the seat to hold the essentials like your phone or keys.

Accessories

One of the biggest pros to the Lux is all of the amazing accessories or add-ons that you can clip and switch to make it just the right stroller for you and your little one(s)! If you want to read all about the extras you can use to deck out your Baby Jogger, check out this post  from our blog!

The truth is, it's hard to go wrong between the Baby Jogger City Select and the City Select Lux. For a high end, easy-to-use and fold, comfortable ride, they can't be beat! If you're looking for something that has more options for personalizing with a few convenience upgrades, then you may want to splurge for the Lux over the City Select.
