There are currently three of us who write for The Baby Cubby’s Blog – Alyssa, Brooke, and myself (Jamie). To start out the New Year, we thought it would be a fun idea to better introduce ourselves and also tell about our individual favorite products! And I’ll gladly go first!
I’m Jamie Kohler. I’ve been married for nearly seven years to Blake, someone I’ve known since I was three years old. He pushes me to be a better person and is the perfect partner in every way. I graduated from Utah State University in 2014 in Communicative Disorders with an emphasis in Speech-Language Pathology; whether I will ever do anything with that degree or not, I do not currently know. We have two children: Bronson and Brisbane (Brizzy). Bronson just turned four, goes to preschool, and has the biggest heart. With him, he brought a fierce loyalty and a strong desire to learn to this world. Brizzy is almost two and she has some undeniable sass and a fun personality. She has been a mama’s girl since day one and has helped me grow in so many ways. We live in Logan, Utah where my husband works as a software developer. I love television and reading and all things Disney. Life is good. I have been a copy writer for The Baby Cubby since March 2016. It has been awesome working for this company, and I’ve loved the opportunity and the friends it has brought my way. The best part about it is being able to use the other side of my brain for a time, rather than forever being stuck in the repetitive daily life of a stay-at-home mom. I love writing about almost anything motherhood and baby-product related, though I have come to find that I don’t particularly like talking about pregnancy because I simply don’t have many good things to say about it! I enjoy researching different topics and have found more confidence in my writing since first beginning this little gig. It’s pretty obvious that I get to see A LOT of baby products. Some I own and some I really want to own, some are fascinating and some are just plain...well, interesting. Here are a few of my very favorite products and why they are my favorite:Skip Hop Moonlight & Melodies Nightlight Soother - Elephant
I think the reason I picked this one first is probably because I’m currently sitting in bed and can hear both of my kids’ sound machines down the hall. Bronson’s (an owl) plays Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and turns off on its own after an hour and Brizzy’s elephant plays rainforest noises all night long until I turn it off in the morning. While on, they serve as nightlights in their rooms because of glowing bellies, and they also project stars onto the ceiling! I’ve been super impressed with this product and with Skip Hop. In fact, I think that of all of the brands out there, I love Skip Hop the very most.

Saranoni Blankets
Lucky for me, Saranoni and I have the same hometown in Logan, Utah so they’ve been a favorite of mine for a while! Really, truly, I LOVE my Saranoni blankets. There are currently six floating around our house, all various sizes, colors, and designs, and the rest of my family loves them just as much as I do. This mini of Brizzy's is one of my favorites, especially when she was a tiny newborn and fit completely under it; now it just tags along with her as a lovey.
Little Unicorn Swaddles and Crib Sheet
Little Unicorn is also based out of Logan. (It’s pretty great up here, I highly recommend it.) I find their adorable swaddles to be irresistible with such unique prints and a comfy feel. I will say, I didn’t love the fitted crib sheet right away because when laying my babe down, my wedding ring would often snag on it. But after a time, I figured out how to lay her down without my ring getting caught and now I can fully enjoy how perfectly it matches Little Girl’s nursery!
Saranoni Mini Blanket, Saranoni Receiving Blanket, Little Unicorn Cotton Muslin Fitted Sheet - Garden Rose, WubbaNub Pacifier - Penguin
WubbaNub
I think these things look ridiculous. But man, did I love our penguin binky when he was around. The number one reason being that it was so easy to find!Freshly Picked or Fawn Design Diaper Bags
These are products I do not yet own. I’ve been telling myself for years to just buy one, but every time I go to do so, I chicken out – probably because I’m so overwhelmed by which one to pick! So many good choices! I think these are straight-up gorgeous.
Covered Goods
These were not around with my first and I just knew I needed one with my second. However, it took me a little bit to decide I liked this product because I felt like it was too tight and claustrophobic for my babe. But I soon got over that factor because life with baby number two is a whole lot busier and I grew to love this nursing cover because I could pull it out to nurse my little girl ANYWHERE thanks to the 360 degree coverage. I’m now a big fan...but maybe not so much in the summertime.

Camera
So I'm a bit on the paranoid side of things, and at times my paranoia and obsessiveness could really peak. I am 100% positive that my mothering/postpartum experience with my first baby would have been so, so, so very different had I had a camera in his nursery. It makes me sad to think about how much better off I would've been if I would've had this one product. The cameras we bought for our house shortly before Baby Girl entered the party have been a game changer. Having a camera in the nursery has saved me from a whole lot of heartache while sleep training and so much peace of mind during naps and nighttime that I think one of these things should be mandatory. I'm not even joking. I don't own an Owlet video monitor, but given the reputable status of this brand, I bet it's top notch.
