Organization: Diaper Bag Edition

Organization: Diaper Bag Edition

It’s only a matter of time until we all get an itch to organize, declutter, and deep-clean. This includes throwing out things we don’t need, cleaning areas that aren’t typically cleaned, or simply organizing items that we use on a regular basis for further functionality. Now, simply apply these practices to a diaper bag, and voila, your diaper bag is just like new! However, there’s no need to go COMPLETELY minimalistic here. All things considered, anything could happen and it’s ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry when it comes to what is packed in a diaper bag!

First step--pick a diaper bag.

Second step--pack the diaper bag!

Diapers and wipes. Here’s the obvious one, pack spare diapers and wipes. Many diaper bags have pockets that fit diapers and wipes perfectly! Some smaller pockets are great for items like diaper-rash creams, lotions, or baby powder. Also, the majority of diaper bags come with a built-in, or removable, changing pad; absolutely perfect for on-the-go diaper changes.

A change of clothes. No matter what activity you have planned that day, packing a change of clothes is almost always a must, especially for the littlest kiddos! Luckily for us, there are several diaper bags with a separate zippered compartment that could easily separate wet clothes from dry clothes, and allows a handy place to keep the items you’re done with for the day.

Bottle/drink. Bottles or sippy cups often have seniority when it comes to baby’s demands, so keeping them handy is important. Built-in pockets often accommodate for these to hang out, but there’s always the option to use something like a portable bottle carrier to allow for longer-lasting storage.

Burp cloth/bib. Sure, you could improvise and use a napkin or a wipe, but even more convenient for spills while eating, or afterward, would be a bib or a burp cloth. It's even better when one can double as both, like Bandana Bibs!

Snacks/food. Food storage is always the most disorganized part of packing my diaper bag. I tend to throw in snacks at the last minute, where they end up with no home, smashed, or lost! However, there are handy items like this food storage tower to help with that!

Pacifier. Man, I swear pacifiers get lost and reappear like no other baby item in history. A designated spot for the binky is a must! Thankfully, Paci Pods ease the stress of finding a pacifier in an emergency.

Toys. Books, stuffed animals, and small toys are wonderful accessories to add to any diaper bag. But, be sure to take inventory of what is being packed to assure it is all brought home as well! Lucy Darling All Aboard National Parks: A Wildlife Primer Book

Blanket. Of course, it’ll depend on the weather or the activities, but blankets are pretty versatile, so it’s never a bad idea to have one on hand.

Stuff for mom. Last but not least, the best way to keep things tidy in a diaper bag is to keep mom’s stuff separate from baby’s stuff. This most likely just means picking a mom-only pocket for your keys, your phone, your wallet, feminine hygiene products, etc.

A little organization can go a long way! Once all of these items are tucked away where they belong, you'll be sure to feel more put together while out and about! Enjoy the cleanliness and organization and the adventures that come while toting a diaper bag around with you! Now good luck with the tricky part--keeping everything clean and organized from here on out!
