Summer Skincare with Sun Bum

Summer Skincare with Sun Bum

When my little boy got his first sunburn, I felt like the worst mom in the world! He wasn't even a year old, and that soft, tender little baby skin was already pink and sore. I had done everything I could do to protect him from the sun. I had applied sunscreen and kept him shaded under a huge umbrella literally the entire time we were outside. But somehow, his cute, little baby face still got burnt, and I felt so bad! I might be overreacting a little bit because his sunburn really wasn't that bad—his face was just a little bit pink—but I still felt bad because it's my job, as his mom, to protect him from everything!

I'm always amazed how fast a little sun exposure can turn into a really painful sunburn, and not just for little babies. I got a very, very mild sunburn on my face a few weeks ago, and when my friend and I went to get facials for her birthday this week, the esthetician could immediately tell that I had recently had a sunburn and that it had damaged my skin. I was amazed! The burn had already faded, but she could still see the resulting damage and dehydration caused by that little bit of sun.

I feel like I have to learn this lesson the hard way every year. I get one sunburn at the beginning of every summer because my skin is extra sensitive since I haven't been outside as much over the winter. And I also just forget to wear sunscreen or apply it as often as I should at the beginning of the summer. But I already learned my lesson this summer, and I purchased a new bottle of sunscreen for our family, so we're ready for summer!

If you also need new sunscreen for your family, check out these Baby Bum sunscreen products from Sun Bum. Sun Bum sunscreen is plant-based, hypoallergenic, cruelty-free, paraben-free, zinc-based sun care. It's also oxybenzone and octinoxate free, so it's reef-friendly. And Sun Bum's Baby Bum line is made with everything you love from the Sun Bum line but with even gentler ingredients, so it's perfect for little ones or those with sensitive skin!

So these non-greasy, smoothing moisturizers will help you keep your little one's skin super soft and smooth all summer long! The Sun Bum Baby Bum Everyday Lotion is available fragrance-free or with a natural fragrance. And for bedtime, the Sun Bum Baby Bum Calming Lotion is infused with lavender and coconut to soothe and calm your little one. Or if you're needing a little extra moisture, the Sun Bum Baby Bum Coconut Balm is extra moisturizing!

I also love the Sun Bum Baby Bum Hand Sanitizer, so you can keep those little hands clean when you're out and about!
