Congrats! You are now the newest owner of the beautiful and innovative Doona! But how do you install it? Whether you have an old car without a latch system, a beautiful new car with built in latches, or will be transitioning the seat to grandma's car with no base, the Doona was built to be installed safely and smoothly. Whatever your needs, check out our guide on how to install your new Doona!
Base with latch system:
- Remove the latch system from the locked position on the base.
- Place the base tightly against the back of the vehicle seat.
- Click each latch into the car’s latch system in your vehicle.
- Push on the top of the car seat base and pull the strap to tighten the base into place.
- Check the base to make sure it does not move more than one inch at the back of the base.
- Place the Doona onto the base. You will hear a click if it is securely attached.
- Lower the handlebar to engage the anti-rebound mechanism that it provides.
Base with seat belt:
- Place the base tightly against the back of the vehicle seat.
- Pull the seat belt and thread it through the pathway indicated on the base.
- Double check to make sure the seat belt did not twist at any point.
- Buckle seat belt into place.
- Remove any slack from the bottom portion of the seatbelt.
- Lift the blue latches on the side of the seat to secure the seat belt into place.
- Check the base to make sure it does not move more than one inch at the back of the base.
- Place the Doona onto the base. You will hear a click if it is securely attached.
- Lower the handlebar to engage the anti-rebound mechanism that it provides.
Without the base:
- Lower the handlebar so that it rests securely against the back of the seat in your vehicle.
- Pull the lap seat belt across the top of the Doona, guiding it through the belt route.
- Click the seat belt into place.
- Pull the shoulder belt over the car seat, and rest it in the blue belt path on the backside of the car seat.
- Remove any slack from the seat belt and make sure the seat doesn’t move more than an inch in either direction.
- Pull your seat belt all the way out, and release to engage the seat belt locking mechanism.
