When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, right? Fortunately for us, Mother Earth has provided an infinite amount of "lemons" also known as National and State Parks, lush forests and beautiful, serene mountains to camp in and enjoy with your family. Unfortunately, life gets busy and it leaves little time to enjoy nature unless the extra effort is made. So this weekend, why not make that extra effort to have a low-key adventure with your family? After you read my five reasons to go camping this weekend, you will be packing your bags and running out the door!
The Stars Are Magical
There is nothing more beautiful than star gazing in the wilderness. Grab your family, lots of warm blankets, and a thermos of hot cocoa, and snuggle beneath the stars! Do some research beforehand and try to spot some constellations! It could be a great learning experience or just a relaxing evening with your loved ones.
Enjoy Your Family Without Distractions
I will be the first to admit that my phone is a BIG distraction, especially when I am relaxing. If you choose to camp in a more remote area, you can ditch those phones and be present with your family. Let's face it, taking time away from technology and social media is so refreshing! Sometimes we just need to focus all of our mental and physical energy on ourselves and our family, and camping is the perfect setting to do that!
Disconnect From Work (Or Other Obligations) & Relax
Not only can you disconnect from technology, but you can separate yourself from work, guilt free! This is especially needed if you have an extremely demanding job. You will have no excuse to answer those pesky work emails when you can't even receive them! Take a mental break and just enjoy the outdoors!
Relish In Watching Your Children Learn Something New
If your children have never been camping, then you will definitely have the pleasure of watching them learn many new things! Help them learn how to set up a tent or cook a tinfoil dinner. Encourage them to play in the dirt or give fishing a try! Learning is limitless in the outdoors. Even for adults! Maybe you've never been hiking before. Take this opportunity to learn something new as a family.
Feed Your Adventurous Spirit (Or Discover It)
Do you consider yourself an adventurous person? If not, then take a leap of wild faith, and discover the adventure inside of you. Take this time to explore a new town, hike a new trail or climb a big mountain! I mean, why not? You only have one life to live and you might as well live it to the fullest, so go do it! If you are an adventurous person, then grab your gear and go wherever the wind blows you. Your soul will thank you for it!
If you've never been camping before, or if your life is just too busy, try camping out in the backyard! Your children will love the spontaneity and you will feel like a kid again. Those are the memories that last a lifetime. Whatever you decide to do, go have a fun, adventurous weekend with your family. You will never regret the time and effort you put into spending time with the people you love the most!
